Annelies Voorthuis
I have lived and worked in Aboriginal communities since 1989. After completing Teachers College I moved to Milingimbi (NT) where I taught for five years. I have also lived and worked on Cape York (Coen) and Canberra where I worked for the ATSIC. I have spent the last twelve years in the Illawarra. During this time I have worked to provide Aboriginal people with opportunities to gain and retain jobs, established businesses whilst also creating opportunities to improve school retention to Year 12 for Aboriginal students.
I am passionate about progressing equality by engaging the community, building solid relationships and supporting various Aboriginal programs and initiatives.
Chris Noel
I am an Aboriginal person (Goori). My people are from the North Coast Nation – Dunggatti (smaller clan Ngaku). I have been involved in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander affairs for over 30 years. This has meant the negotiation and development of specific community outcomes and related training and employment initiatives.
I have a strong commitment and involvement in the regional development for our people, as well as being closely involved in Education and Training for both Indigenous and non Indigenous people.
